Schmitt Proofreading offers proofreading of transcripts for court reporters.*

I proofread using Court Reporting: Bad Grammar/Good PunctuationMorson’s English Guide for Court Reporters, and The Gregg Reference Manual. Let me know your preferences, and I will proof accordingly. I check for errors, consistency, and readability. If you send the cover and notice pages, I check for consistency between documents.

Consider filling out a preference sheet if you’d like me to know what you prefer.

Please send transcripts in PDF format. If you are unsure how to convert a file to PDF, here is a step-by-step guide.

Please send transcripts that have been scoped and that are as close to a final draft as possible. An excess amount of errors makes it hard for me to catch everything.

Please consider sending the transcript in “chunks” if it is a standard job longer than 250 pages or a rush job longer than 50 pages. I can work on it as you do, striving for timely delivery.

I will return your transcript as a PDF file** with corrections marked directly on the transcript so that you can see them in context.

First-time clients or a one-time job will be invoiced upon completion of the job with payment due in 15 days. All other clients will be invoiced on the 1st and 15th of each month with payment due in 15 days. Late payments will be charged a 10% fee.

I accept payment by credit card or bank transfer (both processed through Wave) or check.

*I do not currently offer proofing to audio or proofing directly in your software.

**If you prefer receiving corrections back on an errata sheet, please talk with me.
